It's your life...no need to explain.

Hey friends,
Happy whatever day it is, doesn't really matter what day of the week...make it happy. The trees are budding, grass is getting mowed, birds are singing like crazy, and goslings have been spotted with their attentive parents. Nature is my church; it truly heals and empowers me.
The universe has given me some time to reflect. I'm finally appreciating this gift and using it as it was intended. We can get lost in the journey sometimes and dwell on how we got to a place in our lives, how the lesson was gained. This was a doozy. I needed to see that not everyone has a light in them, not all the time anyways. Some lose that light after trauma in their lives and it comes out as hate, anger, dishonesty, cruelty, silence, etc. You can't take it personally when you are the one under attack, easier said than done I know. When you give of yourself wholeheartedly and end up getting hurt intentionally, it takes a minute to bounce back. But here I am, I bounced back bitches...and they're still sad, miserable humans.
Everything certainly happens for a reason, or at the time it should...I will never be convinced otherwise. What ended up being my last day of nursing in LTC, my husband and I got a puppy, out of the blue. We fell in love with this beautiful creature at first sight. The very next morning I almost degloved my left index finger while putting wood into our woodstove. Thers's no way I would not have been able to work like that, and a puppy needed so much attention and care, especially when trying to potty train with 2-5ft of snow on our land at the time. I completely forgot what it's like having a puppy and I can't believe my husband didn't try to talk me out of it. It was meant to be. And if any of you would like some gnarly finger pics just ask...lol.
So, this is going to be a fabulous spring, summer and so on. I have been forest bathing and meditating daily. I am getting back into yoga and loving it. I have been rockhounding (something I never stop doing) and as much as I love Wilson's Bay in Cape Vincent, NY, I am planning 3 trips with my ride or die. Niagara Falls because he has work there so why not, Lake Superior because I'm on an agate expedition and an old area on the St. Lawrence River in Ogdensburg, NY where I grew up. What for decades was a dump on the St. Lawrence River is now a local treasure chest of sea glass, antique whatever's and objects some might consider oddities. I never heard of this spot growing up in Ogdensburg, probably because we didn't dump our trash there. It's right next to the light house so just shows you how things have changed regarding the environment in the not-so-distant past. I am up to date on my tetanus vaccine, so rusty nails be damned 👍 In all seriousness, safety is my number one concern, and my man would talk some sense into me before I ventured somewhere too risky.
Some super exciting news to report, I recently became a NYS licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator! I am so excited to start helping rehab the lives of innocent and helpless creatures. They need us...or do I need them...? Either way, it works. I started a Facebook page Kat's Wildlife Rehab of NNY | Facebook
This is another project under way, I will be adding a list of items you could donate if you'd like. This is a goal I've been trying to accomplish for a few years, and wouldn't you know it, the stars aligned and here I am. The universe is no dummy, she's got you. My contact info should be displayed anytime now under the list of licensed rehabbers in NYS. So proud of myself for this one folks 🖤
We just finished with our maple season, and it was a great success. Weather was not cooperating initially and to say my husband was bummed out is an understatement. Turned out to be our best season yet with amber, Grade A syrup...it's sooooooo frickin good. With my obsession of french toast and this syrup I might be a seasonal diabetic🤦♀️
I'm going through my herbs, dried flowers and everything in my Kat's Coven shop. I didn't realize how much I have accumulated while not having any time to do anything with it. So, clearing out, making space and decluttering. I'm going to have things I really don't need and will put them on the Kat's Coven Facebook page for local takers. I'd like to have a contest or just plain giveaway for some of it, I think it would be super fun!
I'm updating my website and will be making the members area more user friendly. I've also began building a Kat's Coven app to make getting there easier, more accessible. If anyone has any suggestions for additions to the site or anything you'd like to see back in the shop or new in the shop, PLEASE shoot me a message! This place is for us; this tribe is a refuge in a world gone crazy...let's make this as magical as we can. I am starting back up with a quick email once or twice a month. Who am I kidding, once a month...lol. You don't want a bunch of shit in your emails, and I don't want to send useless and/or repetitive info.
So that's it, my life in a nutshell and plans for the immediate future. I love the messages I get from you guys, I promise I get back to everyone as soon as I can so don't be discouraged, I'll get there! I have a puppy now; she's been running my life for the last 3 months. I seriously forgot what it's like to have a puppy, it's been a long time since we've had one. We got our Penny when she was a year and a half, so we missed the cuteness overload phase which also includes using pretty much every room in your house as a toilet.
Love and kindness to the weirdest, most feral and beautiful tribe ✨🧹🌙
